Who is Rusty Smith?

Rusty has been in the entertainment industry since the age of 12. His first band, “The Impacts”,  played school dances starting in the 6th grade.
He became a professional musician in Dallas Texas and at the age of 23 began doing studio  work as a bassist. By the age of 31 he was making his living as a recording engineer at Dallas  Sound Lab, a state of the art recording facility.
There he was lucky enough to work with the likes of Leon Russell, ZZ Top, Phil Collins, David  Byrne and several other icons from the era.
At the Sound Lab Rusty learned the skillset of mixing sound for picture and he knew this was  his future life’s work. He moved his young family to Los Angeles in 1987 and by 1992 was  mixing the Simpsons and Northern Exposure, two of the biggest television shows of the day.
His mixing for TV paid the bills but Rusty wanted to get back into recording music. He built a  studio in his house in 1998 and has produced several music projects since.
Rusty retired from mixing television in 2020 and now devotes his time to writing and producing  music. He also is busy producing content for his You tube channel, Record Mix Repeat, which  this website supports.
